As data centers proliferate across the landscape and artificial intelligence encroaches on every facet of daily life, how can urban agriculture hold space for organic intelligence and embodied technologies of knowledge creation and transmission? Through mindfulness, movement, gathering, and connecting over shared nourishment, Ways of Processing features participatory offerings from artists experimenting with binary code—the foundational language of computing—for a program that proposes imagination and creativity are the innate software that enables us to ‘process’ contemporary life and empowers us transform the world we share.
Designer, author, educator, and DOT founder Prem Krishnamurthy will begin by leading a session of Zero to One, a group mediation practice and creative prompt exploring the infinite space in between “on” and “off.” Dance artist, facilitator, and poet Cori Kresge then invites participants into her creative process, opening up her work-in-progress, UNCOMPUTABLE— scores for an unwritten future, to collective exploration. Kresge’s new series of movement scores rooted in physical interpretations of binary code will be presented in Fall 2026 at Mass MoCA in connection with an exhibition by artist Taeyoon Choi.
In parallel with Krishnamurthy and Kresge’s offerings, transdisciplinary artists Zacarias González and Chong Gu will activate Project EATS’ capacity for connection and community sustenance through Carry, their fleet of reconfigurable modular structures that transform into rolling garden carts and a mobile kitchen. As a platform for the collective acts of harvesting and processing the farm’s produce into a community meal in real time, Carry models the power of informal relational architectures to catalyze and document conversation and connection around shared nourishment.
Ways of Processing is organized by Sam Rauch for Department of Transformation. DOT is supported by The Clemente Soto Velez Cultural and Educational Center.
Third Wednesdays: Project EATS x DOT
Launching Summer 2026, this free monthly program of artist-led gatherings invites community members to experience Project EATS, the living citywide installation of urban farms created by artist and activist Linda Goode Bryant, as a site of discovery, inspiration, and connection.
Third Wednesdays celebrates living legacies of urban ecologies and artistic land stewardship, drawing on experimental creative practices to activate Project EATS’ urban farms as sites of collective learning and healing. Across a variety of participatory modes, the LES-based, artist-organized group Department of Transformation (DOT) and a roster of invited guest artists, activists, and farmers will honor the histories and envision the futures of transformative movements for community food sovereignty and cultivating the urban commons.
